                        Backpack Journalist at WWNY-TV 7NEWS

I still remember the phone call I received my former News Director Scott Atkinson. He called me up while I was walking around campus and asked me if I'd like to become WWNY's newest Backpack Journalist. "Absolutely!" I told him. I was a junior in college at the time, and it was a big deal for a journalism student to get an on-air job while he was still in school.
The only other person I knew at the time who had such luck was a student at Ithaca College, which is about two hours of south of where I attended college. That student's name was Kyle Clark. Who would have thought he and I would end up working together at KUSA a couple years later.
I worked at WWNY for about two years. Toward the end of college, I accepted a job at WSYR-TV in Syracuse, NY. I spent nearly three years at WSYR-TV, before returning to WWNY-TV for a brief stint to become the station's weekend anchor.
On the right side of this screen, you can see an example of my old newscast. And below this text, I've posted two stories I shot/wrote/edited while I was a backpack journalist at WWNY-TV. It was a great market to start off in. I had a lot of fun there.
