Backpack Journalist at WSYR-TVI grew up watching WSYR-TV NewsChannel 9 as a kid. It was a real honor when I was offered a job there after college. I was originally hired as a Reporter, but after a few months I asked my News Director if he could make me a Backpack Journalist
. I love shooting and editing my own material. It killed me when I had to work with someone else. My boss gave me the thumbs up and approved my new position. I became WSYR's first ever Backpack Journalist. Within my first year as a Backpack Journalist, I won the station five awards. The Syracuse Press Club named me "Photographer of the Year". I beat out the chief photographers at all of our competing stations. In fact, I even beat out our own. I spent close to three years at WSYR, before I jumped back to WWNY to anchor the station's weekend newscasts. After realizing how much I missed being a BPJ, I left WWNY and returned to WSYR. I stayed there for 2 months before taking a job at my dream station : KUSA. |
