This has been a busy summer in terms of breaking news. From severe storms to massive wildfires and then the largest mass shooting in U.S. history, it seems like it just won't stop. I've covered every major story in Colorado this summer and I'm currently working on other projects.
You can see some of my reporting by selecting the links below: Aurora Theater Shootings | Colorado Wildfires | Severe Storms |
If you're sick of boring television news stories, don't worry! You won't find that stuff here. My name is Kevin Torres and I'm a Backpack Journalist at KUSA-TV. My reporting is creative, original and memorable. Feel free to explore my site, my stories and my tips for future reporters.

As a Backpack Journalist, I'm in charge of shooting, writing and editing my own stories. I use a SONY-EX1 in the field and I edit on an Edius laptop. If I'm too far from the newsroom I will FTP my stories back over the internet. I produce my stories pretty quickly. Normally I have about 5 hours from start to finish to put them together (that includes drive time, shooting, interviewing, logging, writing, editing and FTP'ing). Some times I put them together within an hour's time. Watch the video above to see some examples of my work from the last couple of months.
